The Course - Introduction to Handgun Safety
The course was designed to be pedagogically sound in order to produce reliable knowledge transfer to the learner. After registration, the experience begins with a quick introductory video, followed by access to the course study guide. The study guide is a printable PDF that supports the learning experience, should the learner choose to use it. The main class is comprised of six sections, they are:
Handgun Parts & Operation
Ammunition
Using a Handgun Safely
Operating a Handgun
Cleaning, Storing, and Transporting a Handgun
Shooting Fundamentals & Position
Each section is followed by a 10 question quiz. The questions for each quiz are randomly drawn from a question bank for that section. The learner must pass each quiz with a
70% or greater to proceed to the next section. The last section is followed by a 30 question, randomly drawn final exam. Each section can be taken as many times as needed to pass. Upon successful completion of the final, the learner is then invited to complete the course by identity verification through tying their username to a financial instrument. After this step, the learner receives a unique completion certificate for printing or electronic transmission. The full course description can be found in the AFT Informational Packet for Court.
